Incoming ERASMUS Exchange Students

Interested in studying at the English Department as an ERASMUS exchange student?

The ERASMUS+ programme enables the reciprocal exchange of students who would like to spend part of their degree at a partner institution of their home university. Currently, the English Department holds 15 Exchange Partnerships with universities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Lithuania, Belgium, Romania, and Poland. A detailed list of our partnerships may be found here. In order to study with us, check if your institution has an exchange agreement with Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Provided there is a current exchange agreement in place, students must be formally nominated to study with us by their departmental coordinator at their home university.

ERASMUS+ exchange documents

Once your nomination and application has been successful, you will be provided with a Learning Agreement by your home university for your exchange. These can be signed by our academic coordinator using either the new Online Learning Agreement platform or the old-fashioned PDF copy.

Finding your way around the English Department: Contact Information

Should you need further assistance regarding your stay, applying for modules, contacting lecturers or getting documentation such as Learning Agreements or Transcripts, you may get in touch with our international student advisor, Nick Emmerich, assistant to the academic coordinator, Dr. Claus-Ulrich Viol.

Further Information: International Office

Next to our department, the webpage of our International Office has a number of services and events available for exchange students from all departments of the RUB. They may offer extra guidance to help students get started with their studies, meeting fellow international students, and navigating their way around campus.
