Zoom Etiquette - The Use of the Camera

In order to make Zoom courses and hybrid courses as productive and pleasant as possible, we ask that all participants turn their cameras on at all times – breakout sessions included.

It is our shared goal to digitally simulate live classroom meetings, and a central part of that experience is seeing the people with whom you are speaking. You are welcome to use a digital background to protect your privacy.

There are of course situations in which for technical or personal reasons it may not be possible to turn the camera on, but we would ask that all students and other participants in online meetings commit to keeping their cameras on whenever possible.

Um unsere ZOOM- und Hybridveranstaltungen möglichst produktiv und angenehm zu gestalten, bitten wir alle TeilnehmerInnen, die Kameras in den Meetings und Breakout Sessions einzuschalten.

Es ist unser gemeinsames Ziel auf Zoom, die Live Seminarsitzungen so weit wie möglich nachzubilden, was bedeutet, dass wir einander im Gespräch sehen können. Gerne können Sie zum Schutz Ihrer Privatsphäre einen digitalen Hintergrund wählen.

Natürlich können auch mal technische oder persönliche Situationen entstehen, die es nicht erlauben, die Kamera zu verwenden. Dennoch möchten wir alle TeilnehmerInnen digitaler oder hybrider Veranstaltungen bitten, dem Unterricht weitgehend mit aktivierten Kameras zu folgen und diesen mitzugestalten.
